what i'm wearing

Even though  jewellery is one of my greatest loves (obsessions) and I own a few really nice pieces, I never get around to wear them.. I guess my place is in the smithy.. hehee
HOWEVER
Today I have a pendant like the one above around my neck.. with other colour settings though.. more green-blue-orange..

lucien falize

One of my favourite pendants of all time by the pendant master, Lucien Falize. Saw this pendant for the first time when I was a kid and I am still in love with it..

This site says that the purple stone in the centre of the piece  is a sapphire, however I have a book that disagrees with that saying that its an amethyst... My guess would be amethyst too but I can not be sure since I havent seen it irl. Does anyone know what kind of stone it is?

gem of the day #1

Tanzanite

Was discovered at the Mererani mines of Tanzania in 1967.
In nature it occurs in quite a few colours, but most are heat treated to attain a beautiful violet blue colour, which is the colour that attracted interest in this gem when it was discovered. Although it is of adequate hardness, it is however somewhat fragile and ultra- sonic cleaning should be avoided!
Tanzanite is strongly dichroic, meaning it shows red-violet and deep blue depending on the direction viewed. It has been marketed quite fiercely; cheaper – pale colours are often sold on various TV shop channels. Conversely, supplies of actual good quality material are dwindling.

confessed nerdism

I confess. Apart from being a freak when it comes to jewellery, I am also a nerd.
Ahhh. When I was younger I read all the classics I could get my hands on and now that I am older I have turned from a reader with a very defined (some may call it snobby) taste to a complete fantasy nerd. The best series I have read so far is  A song of ice and fire by George R. R. Martin.

Oh and the picture is from this summer,  reading and trying new jewellery ideas simultaneously.
Multitasker.

top.shop.faux.

Fanned Leaf Studs
Just found lots and lots of fun stuff at Topshop. Their fall collection of faux bijiou is quite interesting .... all pieces probably look better on photo than irl.
 Still faux can be fun.
 More to come.
